The long wheel base model, that's the size of an Escape.
Another model from Yurop! The Transit Connect. Or as Ford markets it: The un-minivan. But thats exactly what this is, a minivan. Sliding doors. Seating for 7 (with some really cool looking seat fabric). I'm surprised it doesn't come with a screaming kids soundtrack. The dash and console look like they're about the same ones from a Focus. Heck, they very well could be. I don't know much about these things. They are small though, the LWB version I had today was only a little bigger than an Escape. There are a few different versions of these and their bigger brother, like today's van, panel variants, etc. They're not the prettiest things either, though maybe they'll grow on me. They aren't ugly by any means, the look just doesn't excite me. Driving around the lot felt similar to driving a Focus. The one I drove was pretty spartan, with hand crank windows, manual mirrors, the smaller digital screen in the dash.
I thought it was a decent car. Time will tell.
First Gear is a new column, about a kid, a car lot full of new cars, and a habit of noticing random things. It's written from the view of a Ford dealer's lot attendent who for some reason thinks you care about the cars he spends very little time in. He also thinks you actually care about his random thoughts and will randomly post them to Oppositelock at his leisure. Just don't give him an excuse to break into full reviews. He can't handle that level of greatness.

You must have Focus.

They probably don't advertise the van much because margins on it are smaller than the CUVs and they don't want to risk cannibalising sales.

It seems like Canada Post is phasing out the old Grummans for these now.

It's a no-nonsense car/vehicle for no-nonsense people. Nothing wrong with that. I wouldn't want to drive one, but I don't have a bazillion kids or a small business, but if I had.....

No I don't think there's anything wrong with the car at all. I'm starting to see more and more of them on the road and the many different configurations are surely helping.

Except at a Fiesta.

Hm. The US is still using the good old Grummans. Fun fact, did you know those are Explorer-based? At least the old ones are anyhow

That would be a good thing to Escape to now

I thought they were S10 based and powered by iron dukes. (these are the LLVs, not sure if there are more models, since they went under in 1994)

I'd be an Explorer of the idea.
